Research Alert: 21% report a degradation of COVID standard adherence in both grocery stores and big box retail

There is no doubt that we’re tired of being holed up in our houses, tired of being cautious, tired of having to alter our way of life. In recent weeks, our team has reported that they have noticed evidence of “COVID Fatigue” amongst staff and customers that they encounter in daily life. To find out more about this topic, Coyle leveraged its 14K member global research panel. Last week, we surveyed 418 US-based panelists about the COVID safety protocols they were seeing in their local markets.

It’s no surprise that the vast majority (83%) of respondents indicate adherence to COVID safety protocols as important or very important when making decisions on where to visit/shop.

Our collective fatigue is making some people careless – one reason COVID-19 is rising sharply again throughout the U.S. Below are the findings.

While the results tell us that adherence to COVID protocols remains stable, in certain businesses we see a marked decline. Twenty-one percent (21%) of those surveyed reported a degradation of COVID standard adherence in both grocery stores and big box retail. As we head into the holiday season, it is critical that staff and management remain diligent and provide consumers with the confidence to shop safely.

At Coyle, we offer COVID Fatigue audits. These focused spot-checks keep your operation running smoothly and give management the confidence that all rules and regulations are being upheld. To learn more about COVID Fatigue audits, contact us.
