The Most Popular Spa Treatment?

If you said massages, you’d not only be right – but right by a wide margin.

According to the Coyle Hospitality Group and WTS International Spa Sentiment Research Report for 2009, massages were booked 92% of the time, followed by pedicures (63%) and facials (62%).

Least-booked treatments – laser treatments (5%) and injectibles (3%); and least-favored treatments – manicures (27%) and scrubs (26%).

Which treatments would spa goers give up because of budget concerns? Wraps and scrubs, according to 25% of respondents.

And most significant issues pertaining to spa visits – price for 79% and service for 42%.

Interestingly, 74% choose their spa on the basis of word of mouth and 62% of hotel/resort guests feel it’s somewhat important for the property to have a spa while 15% consider it very important.
